When I moved into my first apartment as an adult, I had no idea how to find good furniture that wasn't expensive. We had a local budget furniture store and a high-end luxury store, and while I didn't like the feel of the items from the budget store, I couldn't afford the prices of the luxury store! Although I was eager to prove my independence, I called my mom and asked for help. She told me that I was looking in the wrong place and led me to another store just outside my city that had quality furniture and great prices. She found great furniture for me that was high-quality and in my budget. She has since given me many tips about furniture to help me when I make new purchases in the future. I plan to share them here!
Tiny houses are a hot item right now, but most people who are interested in them are concerned about how to get furniture into these tiny homes. Furniture sets, like a sofa sectional or an eight-piece dining set, clearly are not going to fit in a tiny home. However, there are some compact combo furniture sets that will fit these tiny living spaces.
A captain's bed is nothing new, but it is the perfect solution for a tiny house. The top part is all bed, and the base underneath is all drawers. If you buy a Captain's bed that has drawers on only one side, and invest in a twin or double bed, it will fit quite neatly into an average-sized tiny home. That removes the conundrum of how you are going to fit a bedroom set into this space, while still providing you with a modern bed and clothing storage.
Bistro Sets with Fold-down Leaves
Bistro tables and chairs frequently have a single table and two chairs, the ideal set to fit into a tiny home. If you also look for and purchase a bistro set with fold-down/drop-down leaves, then you can easily have a lot more room from side to side and front to back in the tiny home. Fold down the leaves when the table is not in use, and fold up one or both of the leaves on the small table for mealtimes. Your chairs double as extra sitting room in your "living room" in the tiny house.
Gossip Bench/Coat Rack/Shelving and Mirror
This all-in-one piece of furniture is a real space saver. The base is a bench with a cushioned seat that lifts to reveal storage space underneath. The base is attached to a panel where you will find hooks for coats and outerwear, and then it is topped with either a mirror or shelving.
If you do a good job tracking down this piece, you may even find one that has a slim mirror at face height with shelves above that. It provides a place to sit, storage space for books and other things you want in your tiny home, a place to hang a coat, hat, scarf, umbrella, and/or sweater, a mirror to check yourself before heading out, and shelves for more storage space. Since storage is at a premium in a tiny home, you definitely want to find furniture that can maximize your storage. Contact a company like Chris Furniture for more information.Share
