Tips for Purchasing High Quality Furniture for Low Prices

When I moved into my first apartment as an adult, I had no idea how to find good furniture that wasn't expensive. We had a local budget furniture store and a high-end luxury store, and while I didn't like the feel of the items from the budget store, I couldn't afford the prices of the luxury store! Although I was eager to prove my independence, I called my mom and asked for help. She told me that I was looking in the wrong place and led me to another store just outside my city that had quality furniture and great prices. She found great furniture for me that was high-quality and in my budget. She has since given me many tips about furniture to help me when I make new purchases in the future. I plan to share them here!

4 Tips for Purchasing a New Recliner

by Wayne Watson

Recliners have been a mainstay in living rooms for decades for good reason—they can be incredibly comfortable and provide a great place to sit and relax after a long day. But in order to enjoy a recliner to its fullest, it is important to buy the right one. If you're planning on purchasing a recliner in the near future, use the following tips:

Don't Make Your Decision Based Solely on Price

When shopping for new furniture, it can sometimes be tempting to look for the lowest price possible in order to save some money. But this is not always a good approach when buying a new recliner.

A quality recliner can possibly last a decade or even more, so it makes sense to purchase a well-made recliner that is crafted from the best materials. While you may be able to find cheaper recliners, investing in quality can be less expensive in the long run because you will be able to enjoy it for much longer.

Consider the Size of Your Living Room

Recliners can come in all shapes and sizes, so it is important to buy one that will fit well in your living room. Prior to shopping for a recliner or making a purchase, carefully measure the area where you plan to put your new recliner.

Don't forget to account for the space that your recliner will need when it is completely reclined.  It is also important to think about scale—if you have smaller pieces of furniture in a room, a large, over-stuffed recliner may look out of place or make the living room look unbalanced.

Buy a Classic Design

Since a quality recliner can last for such a long time, it is in your best interest to buy a recliner that has a classic style and neutral fabric. Your style can change a lot over the years, so it is better to buy a recliner that will look timeless no matter how you decide to change the decor of your living room in the future.

Decide What Features You Want

In this day and age, recliners are more than just chairs. Some recliners have built in massage or heating features. You can also purchase recliners that have extra lumbar support, which can be very beneficial for someone with back problems. Think about exactly what you would like in your recliner so you can shop around and find one that has everything that you're looking for.
